Tackling the cause of the complaints

The remedial therapist Mensendieck-Cesar specialises in teaching healthy movement behaviour. It is a paramedical treatment method aiming to reduce and prevent physical complaints. We always assess your total posture and movement behaviour to explain your ailments.

Exertion and relaxation

We assess your abilities to relax and to exert your body. In this manner, we chart your physical and psychological state. We create a personal treatment plan for you, based on which the Sens beweegt je therapist will work with you. We guide you in becoming more aware of your ability to influence your own health and wellness. Sens beweegt je uses treatment techniques that promote recovery and support the learning process towards using a different posture and the right movements. By improving your body feeling and becoming aware of the right posture and movement habits the strain on your body is minimalised. In this way we can reduce pain and structurally tackle the root of your complaints in order to reduce or eliminate them.

Functioning properly during your daily activities

Remedial therapy is in line with the changed approach to movement, posture and performance. Slowly, research finds more and more information on how the human body performs and which factors are responsible for this. Priorities like power and fitness sometimes prove less important than we have deemed them. In order to move properly coordination, mental state, optimal posture, distributing forces, relaxation and rest are relevant. Read more about Remedial Therapy Mensendieck-Cesar at vvocm.

Attention, practise and repetition

Attention, practise and repetition

Your posture is extremely personal and shows the world who you are. The way in which you construct your joints and spine determines whether you get freedom of movement and which way your muscles balance each other out and work together. By consciously analysing your posture, daily life or working posture you will discover how you can use efficient muscle tension to experience fewer physical complaints.

Stress is a common emotion

Stress makes us more alert and sharp, increases performance and can make us feel great. However, if we feel stress for a long period of time we can develop tension patterns which cause pain and feelings of restlessness, agitation, forgetfulness, depression or anxiety. This can be changed by becoming aware of what causes you stress and by consciously feeling your body’s reaction to it. To establish this, we use stress-measurements and we offer relaxation and breathing therapy to prevent complaints caused by stress.

What moves you?

Many people unknowingly use the wrong muscles and joints, which leads to pain and disability. They might use the muscles in their neck and shoulders too much instead of their arm- and back muscles. The result of this is complaints of pain, stiffness and discomfort. Walking, bending down, lifting things and other kinds of work actions are other activities that are often done in the wrong way. We examine the way you use your body and we use a muscle tension meter to measure whether you use the right muscles for your activities. After this, we teach you to use the right muscles through advice and biofeedback training.

Helping hands

Despite exercises and advice for changing your posture and movement patterns and your exertion- and relaxation habits it is possible that your complaints do not fully disappear. Sometimes vertebrae of joints may be blocked. At Sens beweegt je the therapists can use manual techniques as well to remedy these problems. They are trained in mobilisation techniques, massages and/or craniosacral and visceral techniques to speed up your recovery process.

Measurement is the key to knowledge

Influencing people’s behaviour is the hardest thing there is. Take the way you always hold yourself or movements you always execute in the same way. How could you learn to feel that your muscles are less strained if you execute these movements in a different way? We use a muscle tension meter to tell us whether you use the right muscle groups or whether you need some training and advice to start to use them differently. At Sens beweegt je we also employ the Emwave heart coherence meter. Research shows that the pattern of your cardiac rhythm reveals the state of your emotions and the workings of the nervous system. This helps us examine your stress levels and give you the right advice and exercise material.

Eén maal per zeven minuten

In the Netherlands, an elderly person falls once every seven minutes. The use of a walking aid, the degree of fear of falling and whether someone has fallen more than once in the past year are of influence on the risk of falling. At Sens moves , we train the elderly to reduce the risk of falling. In cooperation with physiotherapists we offer fall risk screening and fall prevention training. We also train the independence of the elderly by practicing in and around the house in daily activities such as turning over in bed, getting up independently from a chair, cleaning, cycling. We also work on fitness maintenance and increasing muscle strength. In addition, attention is paid to loneliness and lack of exercise, which causes many complaints and discomfort. Sens moves you is affiliated with Valnet .

Expert attention for your child’s movement

Movement and play are very important for a child’s development. It is also one of the favourite pastimes of children. During the primary school years they learn a variety of new skills like cycling, swimming and writing. For most children this happens naturally and easily. However, some children experience difficulty in doing some of these things the right way, however hard they might try. In that case a children’s remedial therapist or physiotherapist could be of help.
