Chronic pain
Sens moves you is affiliated with the Chronic Pain NetworkThis network has national coverage with (exercise) therapists who are specialized in coaching people with long-standing pain complaints. This means pain that has no one-to-one relationship with the cause (e.g. injury) of the pain.
Implications
The pain often takes on a life of its own, with consequences for daily life. For example, you avoid certain movements out of fear of the pain, because it continues to feel like acute pain. Or you just bite through the pain, which is difficult or impossible to maintain in severe pain. There is increasing scientific insight into pain, which can help you better understand your complaints.
Two therapists at Sens moves you have trained in the treatment of chronic pain to help you get a grip on your complaints. The care is based on the latest insights of evidence-based practice and patient-driven care.
We work with an innovative treatment method, specially developed for people with chronic pain. The treatment is not aimed at removing the pain, but shows you how you can deal with your pain complaints in a different way. And regain control of your own life.
Method
We start by mapping the causes of your pain, your experience of the pain complaints and how you deal with them. Together with your therapist you then set achievable goals. The starting point here is that you regain control of your complaints and improve your quality of life.
During the treatment, your exercise therapist is your coach, so to speak. Together with the exercise therapist, you will work on your own goals. These goals focus on improving those skills that are important to you. For one person, this means 'normal life and work' and for another, 'better coping with tensions'.
Effects
It is important that you become aware of your own possibilities. And that you learn what you can change yourself to become better. That you regain confidence in your own body, so that you can resume your daily activities. Activities such as work, sports and activities with family and friends. That you – and not your pain – ultimately determine your life again. After approximately three months, the results will be discussed with you, consultation will take place with your referrer and the treatment will be adjusted if necessary.
