Stress
Stress is actually just tension. You always need a little tension to function properly because your body is then ready for action. If there is too much tension, complaints can arise.
When you are stressed, your body prepares to fight or flee.
Background
Your brain sends a signal that causes you to produce the hormone adrenaline. This causes your heart rate and breathing to accelerate and your muscles to tense. More oxygen-rich blood now goes to your heart and muscles than to your digestive tract, for example, which allows you to respond optimally to the 'danger'. If the danger has not passed after a few minutes, your body also produces another stress hormone (cortisol) that keeps you ready. The effects are usually short-lived. After that, your body needs some time to recover. If the stress lasts too long, you may become overstrained or burn out.
Finding a new balance
Your therapist at Sens moves you guides you in becoming aware of your tension complaints and examines with you whether a treatment plan can be drawn up. If necessary, we work together with other disciplines.
